My Closet Favorites - Core Pieces

My favorite items in my closet are always core pieces that are easy and versatile. Shopping for these pieces can be tough - this post will make it a little easier.  Core pieces are usually neutral colors that can be styled in a multitude of ways. Neutral colors make a great foundation to any outfit especially transitional outfits from day to night. If you'd ask me what my favorite shirts are in my closet you might be surprised to find that 4 out of 5 are white. A white shirt or blouse acts as a blank canvas for colorful accessories to stand out amongst.

I love this look because it embodies the saying that opposites attract. I think its a happy medium of edgy and girly. Despite my Grandmother's opinion, I'm obsessed with distressed jeans. It ads a twist to an otherwise basic outfit that plain denim just can't achieve. These worn black distressed Hudson jeans are my absolute favorite mostly because of their comfort and placement of the distressed marks. Adding a pair of distressed jeans to your closet whether they are skinny jeans, straight legs, or boyfriend will be sure to add some versatility to your style.

I chose to pair these jeans with an oversized boyfriend button down I purchased from Gap. I love this top because it is so easy to thrown on with just about anything - which is the epitome of simplicity. I have to resist from wearing this shirt multiple times a week because it truly does make every outfit stylish and comfortable. I love to tuck it into light washed boyfriend jeans as well for a more slouchy boho look. You can leave it buttoned down or you can mix it up by adding my favorite  go-to knot. Knotting the bottom is a great option if you want to transition the top from day to night.

These Jeffrey Campbell heels are AMAZING. They are super comfortable and the most versatile heels I have in my closet, making them my favorite core piece. The suede nude color is great for anytime of year and are easily transitioned from day to night. I would also pair these with the light washed boyfriend jeans for a day look. The velcro strap makes them easy to throw on and run out the door, which I love also!

The perfect addition to this neutral canvas is my favorite core accessory - a hot pink Kate Spade satchel. I completely understand that purchasing bright color pieces for your wardrobe can be nerve wracking. Let me be the one to say that finding a colored piece like this bag to your style collection is key for your neutral outfits to pop! People will be sure to take notice and consider you an  experienced fashionista for sure. Still reluctant to make the colorful investment? Add bright nail polish for a little added detail instead!
